Appearances are in all aspects of regulatory work covering serious disciplinary matters, environmental Public Inquires relating to suitability of operating centres and Inquiries in the bus industry relating to operation of local services.

Legal 500 2010 also ranked the department as Tier 1 (the highest available accolade) stating it ‘punches well above its weight in offering robust legal advice tempered with sound commercial reasoning’.
