The department advises on all workplace issues including:
- unfair/wrongful dismissal
- racial, gender, age and disability discrimination
- equal pay
- redundancy and reorganisation of business and workforce
- maternity rights and parental rights
- transfer of undertakings (TUPE)
- policies and procedures
- investigations and consultancy on workforce practices and strategies
- directors and governance
The department conducts its own advocacy before employment tribunals, rather than instructing Counsel. Accordingly the advocate accepts full responsibility for the conduct of the case right up to the outcome.
Labour Relations
Our lawyers have long standing and particular expertise in industrial relations including:
- negotiations with trade unions
- local and national agreements with trade unions
- trade union recognition or de-recognition
- advice on ballots before industrial action and injunctions
